How to make Twitter ads profitable
I used to think that Twitter advertising was more like "spraying and praying": you put money down on a bunch of ad placements and hope that some of them resonate with your audience.
This would result in either no sales or a few sales at a high cost per action. I tried again a week ago, and I think I cracked the code. Here is how I did it:
What I tried before:
I tried several Twitter campaigns in the past for UserBooster, and they all failed - a few visits but no sales.
I did craft a tweet from scratch, basically an advertisement, with a nice visual, and push it to a custom audience (startups, in my case).
That's how you make Facebook ads, but it's NOT working with Twitter!
What you should do instead
The secret here is to sponsor an existing tweet, not a salesy one!
I picked a very informative tweet, focusing on the pain UserBooster is solving and with a lot of organic engagement instead.

As you can see, this tweet is a small thread. The second tweet is an ad for UserBooster (it's auto-plugged by TweetHunter when the tweet gets more than 80 likes)
I'm sure the first tweet will get attention as it had a lot of traction in the past, and people will check the second one and eventually click on the link.
Plus, as the first tweet is very informative, it's not seen as an aggressive ad!
Results
Let's see the results now.
I tested this campaign with a minimal budget of $10/day for 5 days.
It leads to 825 impressions. Almost 10% of them engaged with the tweet. I even had some RTs!
And out of these 82 engagements, I got 69 clicks, which leads to $250 of the revenue!
To sum up, Twitter ads work if you understand how to do it properly:
Recycle some tweets that already worked for you and promote them
Make sure you have a tweet below to trigger some clicks
